Her desire, fueled by years of international travel and intent study of diverse art and architecture, intense exposure to museums, galleries, artists and their studios, along with studies at Art Students League in New York, Pacific Northwest College of Art, many concentrated workshops and much personal study and experimentation, led Carole to a career creating and enlarging realistic figurative sculpture for large-scale bronze monuments throughout the United States, and now as a professional sculptor, commissioned and exhibited internationally. Carole’s voluptuous forms sometimes only capture a mood, or a moment, and other times they express surprising thought and unique stories. Her sculpture is primarily figurative – organically stylized and/or abstracted to a degree, but when she finds herself headed toward realism, she makes sure to stop just short of it. She most often works clay to bronze, or, for some very large pieces, modeled cement. However, her real love is stone and many of her recent sculpture designs have been created with the hope of realization in stone. After deciding to disregard the warned impracticality of an art career, Carole has joyfully become immersed in creation and now only worries that she won’t live long enough to be able to bring to life the never ending stream of ideas. While she has been accused of being obsessed with sculpture, she feels that she is merely making up for lost time. Carole’s sculpture can be found in public and private collections within the United States, Europe and Asia. |
